Dr van de Borne: We are going to merge the Working Group on Blood Pressure and Heart Rate Variability with the Ambulatory Blood Pressure Group. One is long-term variability and the other one is short-term beat-to-beat. Never-the-less it is variation in blood pressure. We thought it would be stronger if we merged both groups rather than keeping them separate.
　　International Circulation: So your group， up until now， generally used visit-to-visit blood pressure measurements?
　　Dr van de Borne: Not only， because there are variations also from one beat to the other. Every beat of blood pressure has a different volume and there is a lot of science behind that about short-term variability of blood pressure. So ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) is long-term and the beat variability is short-term.
　　International Circulation: We have been talking to people about how the Working Groups work. How often do you meet? How often do you talk to each other?
　　Dr van de Borne: There are several aspects to the Working Group. One aspect is to have at least one meeting outside the European Society of Hypertension Annual Meeting dedicated to the topic of the Working Group. Another aspect is to exchange ideas about research and education amongst the participants of the Working Group and also to establish collaborations on international research on the topic of the Working Group. They are the main aims of the Working Group.
　　Dr van de Borne：我们正准备把血压工作组和动态血压心率变异性工作组合并。一个是长期变异性，另一个是短期每搏变异性。然而两者都是血压的变异性。我们认为将两组合并会增强其功能。
　　《国际循环》：因此您的工作组，到目前为止一般使用的还是每次就诊时测量的血压值？
　　Dr van de Borne：不仅是这样。因为一次心搏和另一次心搏之间也存在变异性。血压每次搏动的音量不同，而且关于血压的短期变异还有很多科学知识。因此动态血压监测(ABPM)是长期的变异性而每搏变异性是短期的变异性。

　　Dr van de Borne： 工作组有几个方面的规定。一个就是在欧洲高血压协会年会之外每年至少还要召开一次会议讨论工作组所关注的主题。另一个就是工作组参与者之间交换关于研究和教育的意见并建立与工作组主题相关的国际科研合作。
