<International Circulation>:
What is the problem with lifestyle and patients? Why doesn’t it work?
<Prof Cushman>:
It is tough to do. Our society, depending on culture, promotes the eating of high salt diets, typical in Asia, or eating a high fat diet, more typical in recent decades in western culture. We need to figure out ways to make availability of healthy food, exercise and so on, somewhat easier. We know that if we put a lot of effort into encouraging people to make changes in diet or to exercise, the majority of people can do it. If you just make a recommendation and make it once or twice, a few people will do it and do it quite well, but the majority of people will not get there. It is difficult sometimes and has to do with what you do every hour and every day of your life and what you put in your mouth and whether you decide to go and do that exercise three, four or five times a week.
